What is Juvederm® Injectable fillers?
Injectable fillers are used cosmetically and are also known as facial fillers or dermal fillers. They are a soft tissue filler that is injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles. The end result and goal is to restore a smoother and fuller facial appearance. The majority of these wrinkle/facial fillers are only temporary because they are designed to eventually be absorbed naturally by the body. Depending on the severity of the wrinkles and the desired outcome of the client, some people may need more than one injection in order to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect or result. The results will last about six months or longer – this highly depends on how quickly the persons’ body absorbs the filler. Other factors that will determine the outcome will also depend on the health of the clients’ skin, the skill of the health care professional administering the injection(s), and of course the type of filler that is being used.

How should I prepare for my Juvederm® appointment?
Before you schedule a Juvederm® treatment, it is always best to schedule a consultation first to speak with a medical professional about your cosmetic goals and expectations for your treatment. The Juvederm® treatment is minimally invasive so, depending on the appointments scheduled for that day at the medical office, you can typically have the treatments done on the same day as the consultation. Because the procedure is minimally invasive, it doesn’t require too much preparation.
Some simple instructions for you to follow before your consultation and/or treatment will generally involve avoiding taking medications like aspirin and ibuprofen. You will also want to avoid drinking alcohol in the couple of weeks leading up to your treatment. Smoking is also discouraged before receiving treatment. Avoiding these few things can help prevent the treated area from bruising. During your consultation, you should also let your doctor know if you have any allergies or sensitivities.
Are there any risks or side effects?
The side effects of Juvederm® will vary from person to person. Typically, each client can expect some swelling and minor bruising. Other common side effects to the treated area that clients have reported include:
- Lumps or bumps
- Minor pain
All of these side effects will usually subside within two to four weeks following treatment.
There are more serious side effects, however, these side effect are typically associated with unprofessional handling. These side effects are extremely rare but can include permanent scarring, vision abnormalities, blindness, or stroke. This is very important for the client to be aware of so that they are able to choose their doctor wisely. It is also very critical for the client to do their research and be sure that the medical professional is trained, certified, and licensed to perform this specific procedure. We look forward to you choosing Entre Nous Aesthetics for your Juvederm® facial fillers.
